From what I can guess it starts by showing you a lovely illusion of something you want or a happy time in your past, to lure you in and make you not realise it’s an illusion, and then starts to show you traumatic things so that you go insane. At the end we’re seeing Ray’s illusion, which seems to be a memory of a happier time, but he’s still unconsciously thinking of Adeline.
Oh this is sad. He’s experienced a whole other, happy life in his dream with her. Coming out of it will suck, but hopefully he’ll be better with explaining his thoughts and more affectionate after.
