You see it from the view of the reader, but think about it. The parents wants everything for the sister and all she see is the sister going along with the plans of the parents because she is a pushover so far. She never voiced her opinion or refused any of that.
Even in real life this kind of behaviour from the parents would make the children dislike or even hate each other, doesn’t matter if the parents to blame. The parents can still ruin the relationship of children until they fix it
