   I think the older sister,Viat, was born from an affair and it’s not the dukes daughter. That’s why the father hated her and instead was so happy when Herna(the MC) was born because she’s his real daughter and it can also explain why she got the powers but not her older sister.

      I think it’s because Herna was made out of love while the other is greed of power. Nobles are like that, right? Illegitimate child are sometimes made up of their true love than accidents. And because it’s the guardian stone, it may be stronger the effects to Herna because she is a half-fairy or half-witch? Nah! I don’t want to speculate it drives me nuts ?
