So I asked a mangaka (Twitter) why do they cut female characters hair and change clothes of the Mc.
He said
1st : To Show more that they are different from before and for more dramtic affair as hair is considered very sacred for Women in Asian Countries. And the Male changing clothes is to mark their change.
As drawn characters they don’t have have anything to show their change and a cosmetic change can help mark it in the readers mind.
2nd A Character looking the same till the end of the series will be too boring and change from time to time gives readers a easy way to remember the order of events and important plot points.
3rd Main Characters should have some Cool vibe so… ?
