It’s the smartest move for him. If he had left that guy alone after he came after him twice he would’ve looked weak. Also since he killed all of them it acts as a warning to anyone else who wishes to come after him. If you paid attention unlike certain people on the site anime-planet you’d have realized that he naturally learned the book that was found near the pit of snakes. Also you say he ate snakes for seven years I say he survived in a pit full of highly venomous starving snakes and made meals out of them instead of becoming a meal.
