The MC is losing his touch lately. The way the enemy army is moving, looks and fights are clear indicators of group puppetry. The only person in a robe is the commander, he fights the puppets instead of the commander wasting time. Regardless it is common sense in war to have units look for and eliminate enemy commanders to ruin the command structure.
