This really isn’t set up properly. So far while the MC is behaving like an antagonist from most other novels like this that the MC has to deal with he’s not shown (here at least) having done anything that would justify this kind of effort to kill him. While he’s apparently assaulted people we aren’t shown him crippling or murdering any people or to be behaving like some mad dog serial killer to require a preemptive kill move against him. Heck normally this kind of character with the top ranking everyone’s acting to protect him because he’s too useful and they don’t care even if he’s occasionally murdering people. Yet now here they find him so troubling they arrange all this so that they can murder him, even when it cripples their dungeon-clearing efficiency and the profit it brings as well as the protection of the citizens?
