Wait, why is it the SAME guy that was in the flashback from the shadow prison realm? Shouldn’t that have been a LONG time ago? I don’t think any of the top brass would have missed a legend rank expert just walking into a ruin that’s “not far from the city lord’s mansion”.
I guess he probably took some measures to hide himself? Long Sha survived a full power attack from the array that should eat legend ranks for breakfast by using external means, I guess it’s not that far fetched.

Indeed, such betrayal and poisoning are characteristics of an unorthodox sect.
Though, definitely not unheard of in large, old virtuous sects; with enough time of peace and enough power over the people, corruption is inevitable.
One needs constant external pressure in order to maintain their moral standards.
This is also why “echo chambers” in our modern society are so harmful; if you don’t expose yourself to views and cultures outside of your own and don’t attempt to understand them in any way, you only stagnate and corrupt your own thoughts into one of xenophobia and exclusion.

Oh? The traditional “emperor beast form” of what has been commonly re-translated(and diluted) into the “kirin”. Known originally as “qilin”.
Commonly seen as a benevolent protector of the forest, it is commonly depicted as a colorful(usually shades of green or other natural patterns) mono-horned deer or elk. But when it is shown as menacing in traditional lore(mostly used to teach children to respect nature) it was shown as a great beast that breathes lightning and clad in divine flames.
This is actually a decent depiction of its traditional form aside from it lacking the usual natural hues.
