Lilian is a great example of a victim who is about to turn villain herself. Endured torturious treatment both physically and mentally for years long, only to loss her mother cruelly, the symbol of goodness in her life. Though she got to kill the main culprit for revenge. But it was a quick and easy dead that hardly can called the deserved ending for inhumane scum. Since no culprit left to take vengence and no love one to live for, she seek to end her suffering life. But even the request she put her last hope in him, Karloi disappoint her again and refuse to kill her.
Forced to keep living with the grieve that keep fester her heart day by day, in the end, that festering mind will either make she give up to up hold her mother’s last word and commit suicide or turn her into madden villain that yearn for destruction of everything that related to her misfortune, the empire that fill with cruel nobles and criminals, the magic kingdom that fill wirh magicians who produce mind control magic. Etc

Exquisite, lovely torture that just goes on and on and on, without letting up the pressure for a single moment. Definitely recommended to those who enjoy that sort of thing. Possibly enough to make a Dark Elf blush romantically.
Also, the manhwa gets better over time, and… let’s just say the above comment is several months old now, and the story may finally be advancing to new places, and maybe even a closure. But to get there, you’d need to read past the torture, so emotional masochism perk is still recommended as a prerequisite for reading this piece.

I wonder why Karloi or Alexis didn’t think of start war to crush Vernie kingdom completely. Consider this is the second time they casue tragedy for both of them. Is it bacause they still don’t have enough military strength to start war or they still busy with tragic aftermath?

I think we have a misunderstanding here. I mean Vernie kingdom, not Deluah. Vernie is an hostile kingdom to Karloi’s empire, locate next to Deluah’s territory. It’s the one behide the tragedy that lead to Karloi’s grandfather dethronment. Also the source where many posion and magic use for enslavement created there.
And the most recent event is they mobilized their army to empire boarder when Deluah declare revolt, but turn back due to empire’s allie army move to intercepted them.
All the strange magic and posion that cause all kind of trouble in empire also come from Vernie. But they play innocent as mocking the empire.

Spoiler for those who wishes for a bad endingthey will get together again… After some separation.. but yeah, they will get together.. but it wont be a fluffy ending..just two adult with mental and physical abused.. what u expect

Is there explaination why is that happen?since each of their very existance are the reminder of pain and suffer of the past, why would they be together again?seeing each other face should serve nothing but open the festering wound in their heart.

I have almost never hated a character as much as the ML he’s a dam hypocrite even he’s servants where able to see that’s something was not right and the ML was the only blind man like a blind man for Revenge on something that was not there and the quote for Gol.D rogers applies here why does child needs to receive the blames of the parents

That’s how the flow of hatred work. As you said, why should the child bare the sin of parents? They are entirely different individuals. That’s very true…from the POV of outsiders. But the fact still there that the child are production of the sinner and there is undeniable that they are related to sinner. If we look from the POV of victims or those who affect by sinner’s wrong doing, it is also understandable why would victims harbor hatred toward sinner’s child too.
For example, imagine yourself is Lilian of this chapter. If somehow it discovered f*cking Duke Delauh has another hidden child? The blood and flesh from that inhumane who has the look so resemble Duke Delauh. Wouldn’t Lilian or you harbor hatred toward that child too? It may or may not to the point of wanting to kill the child, but at least you won’t be able to get along with that child. See how it works?
ML and his people treatment toward Lilian, while it’s condemnable, it’s also normal thing to happen since they harbor so much hatred toward Duke Delauh. And Lilian who is as Duke Delauh’s child and unable to convey her real intention or truth, would naturally become subject of hatred by ML. Why? Because they can’t reach Duke Delauh, so the present of his daughter is like a super tempting target to release their over flowing hatred toward Duke.

Karloi can take responsibility by simply kill Lilian with his own hands. But the pathetic guy still so selfishly cling to her life. Keep her alive is also a form of torturing her. Torturing both Lilian and himself. What can he compensate her at this point? Honor or title are no use for her, even the wealth is also meaningless to her. Does he going to go crazy to the point, anything from Lilian is fine even if it’s hatred toward him? Why can’t he at least offer her a peaceful ending? ???
