Hyllian is rattled. She last told Helga that she’d never appear in front of her again but she had hoped she could still exist from afar. Hyllian realises she hasn’t changed all that much from before as it never occurred to her that Helga would forever never want to see her again. Helga has her own family and children, and Hyllian had wondered if there was a place for her, and recognizes there was never a place for her to begin with.
As she left, she wailed like an animal berating herself as an idiot who cannot think about others and only herself.
Helga will live perfectly fine without her existence and she tells herself to never come back again.
Hyllian walks away, shoulders slumped with loneliness. She was beloved by her mother as a child so she never thought to cast her aside to return to the duke/duchess. Even when she was brought in after her mother died, they treated her with care. She was surrounded by love but that wasn’t the case for Helga. This must have been the loneliness Helga felt all through her life.
Hyllian tells herself she shouldn’t bother Helga anymore and starts crying, but is interrupted by a voice who asks her why she bothered trying to go back and is returning in tears. The voice came from a friend she met during her travels. The friend keeps asking her what happened and Hyllian says nothing happened. She eventually makes the excuse that she saw something tragic along the way and the friend calls her a liar, and that everyone was home waiting for her. Hyllian no longer has any family but she has friends.
